Meet our team, featuring Melissa Harrison-Crowley, Head of Client Solutions at Clu!

Have you ever met someone so optimistic that their energy practically lifts you off the ground and makes you feel unstoppable? That's Melissa for you!


Clu is beyond thrilled to announce that Melissa has joined our team as Head of Client Solutions as we set out to make the working world better for everyone. Now six months into her role, Melissa is spearheading all things client solutions and helping organisations adopt skills-based hiring.


But how did our paths cross, and what led her to Clu?


Melissa's journey is nothing short of inspiring. She spent decades in the recruitment industry but eventually felt the need to redirect her career towards something more meaningful that aligned with her purpose.


As a proud member of the LGBTQ community, Melissa has always been a fierce advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Her passion for creating a fair and inclusive workplace never wavered, but finding a company that shared her vision was a challenge.


That is until she met Joseph Williams, Clu's CEO and co-founder. When Clu launched over a year ago, it was like a match made in heaven. 


Melissa discovered that Clu was all about leveraging technology to make recruitment more accessible and inclusive for diverse talent. It was exactly the kind of innovative approach she had been looking for.


She shares, "Current hiring processes are often ineffective and dehumanising. Additionally, biased recruitment practices and significant skills gaps across all sectors contribute to low employee retention. Talent acquisition teams need partnerships to identify these skills gaps and connect with overlooked and underutilised talent. That’s where Clu can help."

Q: Hi Melissa, tell us a bit about yourself.


Hi all, my name is Melissa. I have two decades of experience in the Talent Acquisition field. I’m passionate about all things DEI and AI in enhancing the hiring outcomes for diverse talent. I started working at Clu in January this year, and my journey has been nothing short of exciting!


Q: What excites you the most about working at Clu?


What excites me the most is our mission to improve the social mobility of 1 million people. The Clu platform is also incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, whether you’re an employer or a candidate.


Q: What made you decide to join the team at Clu?


When I met with Joseph and the team, everything just clicked. I’ve been addressing DEI challenges throughout my career, and Clu felt like the ‘silver bullet’ I’d been searching for. Skills-based hiring is inherently inclusive and helps organisations achieve much greater success when engaging with overlooked talent.

  

Q: What are some of your strongest skills and how do you see that play out at Clu?


I’m known for my positivity and my ability to build relationships and expand my network. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with many talented TA/HR leaders, and I’m enjoying connecting with both old and new contacts about the benefits of skills-based hiring. The progress so far has been fantastic.
